| DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
CASA OF LOS ANGELES
The Director of Development will report to and work closely with the Executive
Director to further develop and build a Resource Development program for CASA
of Los Angeles. The Development Director will be responsible for building upon
our current base of support and improving and implementing a development plan
that generates support from individuals, corporations, governments, and foundations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Developing and implementing strategies to raise funds from individuals,
governments, corporations, and foundations supporting CASA’s operations,
programs, and strategic growth plan;
- Building an effective development team utilizing staff, volunteers, and
board;
- Providing leadership along with the Executive Director and the board in
fundraising efforts, offering training and orientation when needed;
- Instituting a high-functioning development operation including managing
donor databases, donor and grants calendars and reporting, and records maintained;
- Overseeing the development of stewardship and fund raising materials;
- Helping cultivate key donors as well as corporate and foundation partners;
- With the assistance of the board and the organization’s staff, plan
and execute fundraising events;
- Ensure that appropriate recognition and reporting occur for all donations,
grants and contracts and develop compliance plans for grants and contributions.
Additional Qualifications:
The Director of Development will also possess the following qualifications and
characteristics:
- An experienced Development professional with a history of success;
- An ability to move multiple projects forward and can simultaneously focus
on building and enhancing donor relationships, while providing counsel on
Development opportunities to key programs to raise funds for the organization;
- A team player, capable of developing, guiding and implementing an outcome-focused
development plan in partnership with the Executive Director, development stakeholders,
and the board of directors;
- Genuinely interested and passionate about the work and mission of CASA of
Los Angeles;
- A strategic, dynamic, and creative thinker who knows how to engage potential
funders in CASA’s mission.
- An entrepreneur, capable of seeing opportunities and turning innovative
ideas into successful fundraising activities;
- Someone who is capable of setting and achieving fund-development targets;
- Hands-on, with the knowledge and desire to create fundraising systems and
infrastructure;
- A strong communicator with a keen eye for the details of a successful fundraising
system.
- A seasoned professional who is able to inspire trust and confidence, and
articulate and communicate effectively CASA’s mission, programs, and
accomplishments to current and potential funding partners as well as to the
greater community;
- Well-rounded, with a solid understanding of and experience with all fund
raising techniques, including major donor solicitation, corporate and foundation
grant-seeking, proposal-writing, government grant development, and special
events;
- Detail and technology oriented, with strong writing skills, good capacity
to generate correct documents reflecting a solid understanding of CASA’s
programs, experience with fundraising software and general Microsoft Office
products;
- Collegial, with interpersonal skills that ensure an open and collaborative
atmosphere;
- Experienced, with a minimum of four years in a development position with
leadership responsibilities;
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
Master’s degree preferred.
